URGENT UPDATE: A devastating crash on the South Side of Chicago has resulted in the death of an 18-year-old driver and left two other passengers injured, including a 14-year-old boy. The incident occurred at approximately 5:22 a.m. today in the 100 block of E. Marquette Road within the Park Manor neighborhood.
According to the Chicago Police Department, the driver was operating a white Jeep Cherokee when he reportedly lost control, careening into multiple homes. The force of the impact caused significant damage to residences on both E. Marquette Road and the 6600-block of S. Wabash Avenue.
Emergency responders rushed the driver to the University of Chicago Hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries. The two other occupants of the vehicle, including the 14-year-old, were transported to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition.
Police have confirmed that two firearms were recovered from the Jeep, intensifying the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Fortunately, authorities report that there were no additional injuries to residents in the affected homes.
