Aztecs Dominate San Jose State 25-3, Perfect at Home This Season

UPDATE: San Diego State Aztecs have secured a commanding 25-3 victory over San Jose State, finishing the season with an unblemished 6-0 record at Snapdragon Stadium. This decisive win places the Aztecs in a strong position to capture the Mountain West Conference title as they head into their final regular-season game.

In a thrilling showdown on November 22, 2025, the Aztecs showcased their dominance early. Just two minutes into the first quarter, safety Dwayne McDougle intercepted Spartans quarterback Walker Eget and returned the ball 25 yards to the San Jose 20-yard line. This quick momentum shift led to a touchdown from running back Lucky Sutton, who executed a one-yard rush to give SDSU an early lead.

SDSU opted for an aggressive two-point conversion, successfully executed by senior DJ Herman to senior Brady Anderson, pushing the score to 8-0. Kicker Gabriel Plascencia added to the tally with a 35-yard field goal shortly after, making it 11-0.

San Jose State managed to get on the board with a 37-yard field goal by kicker Mathias Brown in the second quarter, narrowing the score to 11-3. However, SDSU responded just before halftime when quarterback Jayden Denegal rushed for a touchdown on fourth and goal, extending the lead to 18-3 at halftime.

“It’s amazing,” Denegal said post-game. “But we’ve just got to keep getting better day-by-day.” He completed seven of eleven passes for 79 yards in the first half, while Sutton added 47 rushing yards.

The Aztecs capped off their scoring with a final touchdown by Chris Washington from the eight-yard line in the closing minutes, sealing the game at 25-3. “Tonight meant a lot; I’ve been here all four years,” Washington expressed, emphasizing the importance of the victory on Senior Night.

This game was the last time these teams will meet in the Mountain West conference, as SDSU, along with several other teams, transitions to the Pac-12 starting July 1, 2026. Coach Sean Lewis acknowledged the significance of the victory, stating, “A lot of hard work has led up to this moment.”

The Aztecs are now gearing up for their final regular-season game against New Mexico, scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on Friday, which will air on CBS Sports Network. New Mexico, boasting an 8-3 record, is on a five-game winning streak, making this matchup critical for SDSU’s hopes of reaching the Mountain West Championship on December 5.

As the excitement builds, the Aztecs’ remarkable season continues to capture the attention of fans and analysts alike. Will they secure their spot in the championship? Stay tuned for more updates as the action unfolds!
