Betty Jean “Jeanne” Ruth Passes Away: Services Planned for Nov. 8

URGENT UPDATE: The community is mourning the loss of Betty Jean “Jeanne” Ruth, who passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, surrounded by family at Diamond Willow in Cloquet, MN. This beloved figure, known for her warmth and kindness, leaves behind a legacy of love and friendship that touched countless lives.

Jeanne, born on March 23, 1952, in Alexandria, Minnesota, was the youngest of four children in a vibrant family. She spent much of her childhood in ORR, MN, and graduated from Proctor High School in 1970. Jeanne maintained lifelong friendships from her school years, frequently attending reunions with classmates, showcasing her dedication to those she cherished.

In 1974, Jeanne married Norman “Norm” Ruth, and together they created a family that included their son, Ryan. Their 36 years of marriage were filled with shared adventures, including trips to Las Vegas and a love for bowling and camping. Tragically, Norm passed away in 2010, leaving Jeanne to navigate life without her partner.

Jeanne found immense joy in her grandsons, Alex and Eli, who were the light of her life. The trio shared countless memories, including attending UMD hockey games as season ticket holders. Their visits brought Jeanne endless happiness, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Professionally, Jeanne had a diverse career that began at Travelers Insurance and included pivotal roles at the Duluth Builders Exchange and the Arrowhead Builders Association, where she served as Executive Director. Her passion for service continued at Duluth Business University and later at various State Farm Insurance agencies until her retirement in 2016.

Jeanne was renowned for her caring nature, making friends wherever she went. Her elegance and love for the arts, particularly symphonies and theater, enriched her life and the lives of those around her. Friends remember her for her ability to make even the smallest moments memorable, a testament to her generous spirit.

Jeanne is survived by her son Ryan and daughter-in-law Andrea, her grandsons Alex and Eli, two siblings, and several in-laws and close friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Norm, her parents, and other family members.

Funeral services will take place on November 8, 2025, at Grace Lutheran Church in Cloquet. Visitation begins at 10:00 AM, followed by the service at 11:00 AM. A gathering for family and friends will follow, where attendees can share stories and celebrate Jeanne’s life with love and gratitude.
