Body Found Near San Antonio Home of Missing Teen Camila Olmos

UPDATE: Authorities in San Antonio, Texas, have discovered a body “very close” to the home of 19-year-old Camila Mendoza Olmos, who has been missing since Christmas Eve. The body was found shortly before 5 p.m. on Tuesday in an area that had previously been searched by law enforcement, raising urgent concerns about Olmos’ fate.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar confirmed that the body was located approximately 100 yards from Olmos’ home in northwest Bexar County. Although the body was wearing clothing similar to what Olmos was last seen in—namely a baby-blue and black hoodie, baby-blue pajama bottoms, and white shoes—the authorities have not yet confirmed the identity or the cause of death.

During a press briefing, Sheriff Salazar stated that investigators had returned to the area after receiving tips and conducting a thorough examination. “This is certainly not the outcome we were hoping for,” he remarked, emphasizing the community’s distress over the situation.

Initially reported missing after her last sighting on Wednesday morning, Olmos may have been in “imminent danger” at the time of her disappearance, Salazar noted. Earlier that day, authorities released a dash cam video showing a person believed to be Olmos walking along a road. Despite being recorded at night, the individual appeared to match the description given by officials.

Authorities previously noted that Olmos left her home on foot, taking only her car keys and possibly her driver’s license. Investigators are also reviewing a doorbell camera video that captured her searching her car shortly before her disappearance.

While Sheriff Salazar indicated there are “indications of suicidal ideations” in Olmos’ past, he did not confirm if these issues were related to her disappearance. “What young person doesn’t have bouts of depression at a certain point?” he asked, urging the public to consider all possibilities, from willful disappearance to potential self-harm or abduction.

As the investigation unfolds, the community remains on edge, seeking answers and closure for the family of Camila Mendoza Olmos. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, alongside the FBI, continues to assess the situation as they await the results of the official identification and further inquiries.

Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward as they work tirelessly to piece together the timeline surrounding Olmos’ disappearance and the recent discovery.
