UPDATE: A tragic four-vehicle crash on Interstate 25 near Loveland has claimed the life of 17-month-old Elijah Manley. The Larimer County Coroner’s Office confirmed his identity following the devastating incident on Tuesday, which also left another child and two adults injured.
The crash occurred near Crossroads Boulevard when a vehicle involved in a medical emergency pulled to the side of the road. According to a release from the Colorado State Patrol, a box truck collided with a Lexus GX, pushing it into a Kia Telluride and a Chevrolet Silverado hauling a trailer. Elijah was pronounced dead at the scene, while two adults and another child from the Lexus were rushed to the hospital.
Authorities have charged Jose Salazar, the 35-year-old driver of the box truck, with multiple offenses including child abuse, vehicular homicide while driving under the influence, and vehicular assault.
