URGENT UPDATE: A routine traffic stop in Chino Hills has escalated into a significant drug bust, resulting in the arrest of three local residents on narcotics charges. This incident unfolded on October 16, 2023, when deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department stopped a vehicle at the intersection of Rolling Ridge Lane and Glen Ridge due to alleged traffic violations.
During the stop, occupants of the vehicle, identified as Michael Aguilar and Tanya Camacho, were found to be in possession of methamphetamine. Authorities report that this initial discovery prompted further investigation, leading deputies to a nearby residence on Laguna Court.
Inside the residence, deputies encountered Camacho’s children, who were under the care of their grandmother, Mary Rodriguez. Rodriguez, who has outstanding warrants for narcotics offenses, was also arrested during this operation. While apprehending Aguilar, officers discovered he was carrying additional methamphetamine along with other items typically associated with drug sales.
A subsequent search of Rodriguez’s home uncovered more methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. She was booked under Proposition 36, a California law that allows for enhanced sentencing in drug-related cases. Rodriguez faces charges under the Health & Safety Code 11395(b)(1) due to her prior convictions.
Aguilar has been charged with HS11378, while Camacho was booked on HS11377. Their arrests have raised significant concerns about the impact of substance misuse on families, as Camacho’s children were left in a vulnerable situation during the investigation.
The Chino Hills Police Department is urging the public to assist with any information related to this case. Residents can report anonymously via the We-Tip Hotline or the associated website.
This developing story highlights ongoing concerns regarding drug-related activities within communities and their far-reaching impacts on families. Stay tuned for further updates as this situation evolves.
