UPDATE: Elaine Hendrix has just confirmed her return to Dancing With the Stars rehearsals after recovering from a serious rib injury that landed her in the hospital. In a heartfelt Instagram update shared on October 29, 2023, the 54-year-old actress reassured fans that she is on the mend and looking forward to the upcoming live show scheduled for November 4.
In a video message alongside her partner Alan Bersten, 31, Hendrix expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from fans. “I am up and about. I am tender. I am sore. But I’m starting pain management today,” she stated, adding that while she won’t be dancing for a couple of days, they plan to resume practice on Friday.
Hendrix was hospitalized earlier this month after experiencing severe rib pain during rehearsals for Halloween Night. She revealed that the injury occurred while practicing a routine to Wicked’s “Defying Gravity,” explaining, “My ribs just seized up. I couldn’t move. They brought me to the hospital.” Fortunately, doctors indicated that with a day or two of rest, she could safely return to the competition, which has been a source of both excitement and anxiety for the actress.
Reflecting on missing the Halloween episode, which saw competitors Jen Affleck and Jan Ravnik eliminated, Hendrix lamented, “The hardest part of yesterday was not being able to show you just how incredible our piece could have been.” She shared behind-the-scenes pictures of the costume she would have worn, inspired by Charlize Theron in Mad Max: Fury Road, featuring a tattered dress and a braided updo.
Despite her absence, Hendrix and Bersten received high scores of 8s across the board based on their last full rehearsal, and with the support of fan votes, they were saved from elimination. Bersten confirmed during a TikTok Live, “You guys voted, we are going to be safe. We got another dance to do.”
As fans eagerly await her return, the upcoming episode promises a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame theme, and Hendrix is determined to make a strong comeback. “I just want to dance. I want to keep doing this,” she affirmed.
