Family of Eight Displaced After Early Morning Fire in Chilton

URGENT UPDATE: A family of eight has been displaced after a devastating fire ravaged their home in the Township of Chilton, Wisconsin, early this morning. At approximately 5:30 a.m., the Chilton Fire Department responded to a distress call from Hickory Hills Road, where the family was trapped inside their burning residence.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames engulfing the first floor. Quick-thinking family members managed to escape the house, but all were taken to Ascension Calumet Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. Fortunately, they were later released. A firefighter also sustained injuries during the operation but has since been treated and released.

Fire crews initially attempted to combat the flames from inside the house but quickly shifted to an exterior attack due to the fire’s intensity. The first floor was severely compromised, prompting firefighters to focus on preventing the flames from reaching the attic. Their efforts were crucial in stopping further damage, but the home suffered extensive destruction from fire, smoke, and water.
