URGENT UPDATE: A fatal shooting on East Magnolia Avenue has left one 18-year-old male dead, with the Knoxville Police Department (KPD) launching an investigation. The incident occurred shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Friday evening, as confirmed by multiple sources.
KPD officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 2300 block near Olive Street. Upon arrival, they found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds in a parking lot. Despite immediate medical assistance at the scene, the victim was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the UT Medical Center. His identity has not yet been released.
Authorities are exploring the possibility that the shooting followed an altercation in a nearby building. Currently, no suspects have been identified or charged as the investigation continues.
KPD spokesperson Scott Erland stated,
“The circumstances surrounding the shooting are unconfirmed at this time and remain under investigation.”
