UPDATE: The Valdosta State Lady Blazers fell to the Lynn University Fighting Knights 76-65 in an intense matchup on Tuesday, November 27, 2025. This defeat drops the Blazers to a 2-2 record as they continue to seek momentum in the season.
The game, held in Boca Raton, Florida, saw the Blazers take an early lead with a quick 4-0 start, thanks to a jumper from senior Aryana Hicks and a layup by sophomore Ka’Miah Pryor. However, the Fighting Knights quickly rallied, with Hannah Wentworth sinking a three-pointer that shifted the momentum, putting Lynn ahead 12-11.
Lynn surged ahead with a dominant performance, especially at the free-throw line, concluding the first quarter with a commanding 23-14 lead. The second quarter saw the Fighting Knights extend their advantage significantly, culminating in a 44-22 halftime score as VSU struggled to contain Lynn’s offensive onslaught.
The Blazers began the second half with renewed energy, with Hicks making a notable contribution. However, the Fighting Knights responded effectively, maintaining their distance throughout the period. By the end of the third quarter, Lynn led 59-39, effectively quashing any hopes of a Blazer comeback.
Despite a strong fourth quarter where the Lady Blazers outscored their opponents 23-17, it was too little, too late. Freshman Kaci Demps led a late push, scoring crucial points to narrow the gap to 76-62 before the final whistle blew.
Hicks was a standout for VSU, leading the team with 17 points on 70% shooting, alongside three steals and two assists. Erin Whalen also had a solid game, contributing six rebounds and five assists, while Demps added 10 points, showcasing her shooting prowess from beyond the arc.
Looking ahead, the Lady Blazers will aim to bounce back when they host the No. 9 Embry-Riddle Eagles on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 2 p.m. ET. This upcoming contest is crucial as VSU seeks to improve its standing and build momentum in the competitive season.
