URGENT UPDATE: Gilbert Regional Park is set to close several pickleball courts for a series of highly anticipated tournaments, impacting local enthusiasts. As winter approaches, the park will host major events that will temporarily alter public access to the courts.
Officials from Gilbert Town Hall confirmed that the first closure begins on the afternoon of November 1 and lasts until 8:00 PM on November 2, during the AZIAPL Private Tournament. Players hoping to hit the courts for casual play will need to plan ahead, as courts 1-8 will be reserved exclusively for tournament activity.
In a community-focused move, high school players can expect another exclusive tournament evening on November 25, when the courts will cater solely to their competitions. The excitement continues through the holiday season with the “Pickleball is Great Holiday Classic” scheduled for December 26 to December 28.
As the New Year approaches, the “More Bang for the Buck Tournament” will take place in early January, marking another key event for local pickleball enthusiasts. The tournament frenzy culminates with the “2026 Winter Classic Tournament,” set for February 20-22, ensuring a packed winter schedule for the sport.
During these tournament days, players are advised to anticipate crowded courts operating on a first-come, first-served basis. When the courts reach their maximum capacity, participants are encouraged to utilize a court rotation system to ensure fair play. For those unable to secure a court, alternative locations like Arbuckle Park and Arrowhead Meadows Park are available for pickleball enthusiasts.
For ongoing updates and schedule changes, residents can sign up for email notifications through Gilbert’s official webpage. As excitement builds for these tournaments, players are urged to keep their paddles ready and plan their outings around the upcoming tournament schedule.
