URGENT UPDATE: Hermantown junior Gabe Swenson delivered a game-winning goal with less than six minutes remaining, leading his team to a 4-2 victory against Cloquet-Esko-Carlton (CEC) on December 19, 2023, at the Northwoods Federal Credit Union Arena. This decisive moment solidifies Hermantown’s status as a powerhouse, remaining undefeated at 8-0-2.
With the game tied 2-2, Swenson took matters into his own hands, stating, “I figured I would try to get to the middle and rip a shot — see what happens — and it went in.” His instinctive decision proved crucial as it put Hermantown ahead, with Kole Lendzyk sealing the game with an empty-net goal.
The Lumberjacks challenged Hermantown from the start, outshooting them 13-5 in the first period.
