King’s College Hosts Thrilling Halloween Science Event Tonight

UPDATE: King’s College is buzzing with excitement as families flock to the annual “Things that Go Boom in the Night” Halloween event, happening right now on October 28, 2025. Children are experiencing hands-on science demonstrations that are both thrilling and educational, igniting a passion for science in the next generation.

The event, organized by the College’s Department of Chemistry and Physics, features a variety of spectacular demonstrations, including the creation of chromatography ghosts, ‘alien eyeballs,’ and oozing Jack-O-Lanterns. Attendees can also witness the astonishing effects of liquid nitrogen, with some lucky children even getting to participate in live experiments.

“It’s often these kinds of moments that first sparked our love of science,” said Julie Belanger, Ph.D., chair of the Department of Chemistry and Physics. “Making it part of our annual Halloween tradition is as much fun for our faculty and students as it is for our guests.”

Among the delighted participants is Zynnia Peters, 7, from Wilkes-Barre, who reacted with awe after witnessing a shriveled balloon transform in the presence of liquid nitrogen. The event is designed to engage young minds through exciting experiments, making science accessible and fun.

Joseph Booth III, 2, also from Wilkes-Barre, was spotted raising his hands in cheer, embodying the joy and wonder that permeates the event. Families are encouraged to interact with faculty and students, turning what could be a simple Halloween celebration into an unforgettable educational experience.

This year’s event not only entertains but also inspires curiosity in the sciences, making it a staple in the community’s Halloween festivities. The immersive experience encourages attendees to explore and ask questions, fostering a love for learning.

As the evening progresses, more demonstrations are set to take place, captivating the audience with colorful flames and exciting reactions. The event runs until later tonight, and attendees are urged to arrive early to fully enjoy this unique blend of science and Halloween fun.

Don’t miss out on the chance to witness these engaging experiments and join in the celebration of science at King’s College. This event is a perfect example of how education can be thrilling and impactful, especially during the Halloween season.

For those unable to attend this year, keep an eye on King’s College’s upcoming events, as they continually strive to make science fun and engaging for all ages.
