Louis R. “Lou” DiCerbo Passes Away at 95, Community Mourns

BREAKING: Louis R. “Lou” DiCerbo, a beloved figure in Schenectady, has passed away at the age of 95 on January 7, 2026, at Ellis Hospital. His death has left a significant void in the community he served through decades of dedicated volunteer work.

Born to Pasquale and Elvira Riccio DiCerbo in Schenectady, Lou was not only a talented photographer for the General Electric Company but also retired from the esteemed Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory. His legacy extends beyond his professional achievements; he was a steadfast volunteer at the Schenectady City Mission, where he made a meaningful impact on countless lives.

Lou was deeply committed to helping others. He regularly delivered bread from local establishments like Perreca’s and Panera Bread to various locations, including the former Carmelite Monastery, the Ellis Hospital Emergency Room, and battered women’s shelters. His kindness and generosity will be remembered by all he touched.

Lou is survived by his wife of 68 years, Rose DiCerbo, along with three children: Louis (Robin Stafford, DMD) DiCerbo of Western Springs, IL; Margaret (Patrick) Golden of Niskayuna; and Marina DiCerbo of San Francisco, CA. He is also survived by one sister, Esther Graham, and three grandchildren, Andrew, Olivia, and Dan. He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Gray.

Calling hours for Lou will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Gleason Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Church, followed by burial at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Glenville.

His family encourages memorial contributions to be made to the Schenectady City Mission, located at 425 Hamilton St., Schenectady, NY 12305, honoring Lou’s commitment to community service.
