BREAKING: Nelson “Ozzie” King has passed away peacefully at the age of 87, surrounded by his loving family on January 26, 2026. The news has left the community of Bethlehem, PA, in mourning as family, friends, and colleagues remember a man known for his warmth and kindness.
Ozzie, born on September 21, 1938, was a beloved figure, celebrated for his dedication to family and career. A lifelong resident of Bethlehem, he graduated from Liberty High School and devoted over 44 years to Bethlehem Steel, where he served as General Manager of Hazardous Waste and Vehicular Services. Even after retirement, he continued to serve the community as a shuttle driver for Scott Cars for an additional 14 years, forming lasting friendships along the way.
His family remembers him as an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, a racing enthusiast, and someone who cherished time spent at the beach and casino. Ozzie was a dedicated member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Bethlehem, where he was known for his generous spirit.
Ozzie is survived by his beloved wife of over 33 years, Sara Phillips King, and their children: Rory J. King (Tammy), Tara King, Craig King (Carol), Lisa Sutphen, and Brad J. King. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, who will carry on his legacy. His sister, Kandy Waas, and his cherished dogs, Gunner and Winston, also survive him.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Ozzie’s life will take place at 11 A.M. on February 6, 2026, at the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, located at 500 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service. Following the service, burial will occur at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ozzie’s memory can be made to The Sanctuary at Haafsville, Peaceable Kingdom, or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Ozzie’s passing marks the end of an era for many who knew him. His legacy of love, kindness, and community service will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
