OnePlus 15 Unveils Bold Design, Massive Battery, and More

UPDATE: OnePlus has just launched its highly anticipated flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 15, during an event in China. This bold new device features a striking design and a massive 7,300mAh battery, setting the stage for a global rollout next month.

The OnePlus 15 showcases a completely revamped look, characterized by a boxy shape and a flat display. The phone boasts a flat backplate and frame, with rounded corners for a sleek finish. Notably, the camera island has transitioned from a circular to a square design, housing three powerful 50-megapixel cameras in the top-left corner.

Under the hood, the OnePlus 15 is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, making it one of the fastest smartphones available. It comes equipped with options of 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage, though users should note that storage expansion is not supported.

The device features a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2772 x 1272 pixels, capable of adaptive refresh rates from 1Hz to 120Hz for general use, and up to 165Hz during gaming. This ensures an immersive experience for mobile gamers and casual users alike.

One of the standout features of the OnePlus 15 is its massive 7,300mAh silicon-carbon battery, providing extended usage time compared to its predecessor. The phone supports 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, ensuring rapid power replenishment.

The OnePlus 15 also includes an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth 6.0, and Wi-Fi 7 support. It runs on Android 16 with ColorOS 16 pre-installed for Chinese markets, while the global model will feature OxygenOS 16. Additionally, it boasts an impressive IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.

However, the camera specifications may raise some eyebrows. The rear setup includes three 50-megapixel sensors: a main camera, an ultrawide, and a periscope telephoto lens. While these cameras sound powerful, there are concerns they may be a downgrade from the previous generation, the OnePlus 13.

The OnePlus 15 measures 161.42 x 76.67 x 8.10-8.20mm and weighs between 211-215 grams. Color options include Absolute Black, Mist Purple, and Sand Dune, with distinct names expected for international markets.

Pricing for the OnePlus 15 starts at CNY3,999 (approximately $561) for the 12GB RAM model with 256GB of storage, climbing to CNY5,399 (around $758) for the 16GB RAM variant with 1TB of storage.

With its impressive specs and eye-catching design, the OnePlus 15 is poised to make a significant impact in the smartphone market. Stay tuned for the global launch next month as more details emerge about this exciting new device.
