UPDATE: A Provo man, Josue Daniel McBride, 32, has been arrested and charged with a staggering 12 felonies after allegedly attempting to entice an undercover officer posing as an adult male with a teenage nephew. The charges follow a disturbing investigation that has unveiled serious allegations of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) distribution.
The operation, conducted by the Lehi Police Department, began on November 5, 2025, when an officer created a post on the social platform Reddit, on a forum known for adult interactions. The post utilized specific emojis recognized by law enforcement as indicators of sexual attraction to minors. Shortly after, McBride initiated contact, sending a direct message that also referenced CSAM.
During the ensuing conversation, McBride allegedly expressed a desire to view photos of the UC’s nephew and offered to send inappropriate videos in return. He reportedly shared alarming content, including videos of a naked child and explicit material involving minors, further escalating the seriousness of his actions.
McBride’s communication with the undercover officer continued on a different messaging platform, where he asked increasingly explicit questions and sought to arrange a meeting. He allegedly stated that he wanted to engage in sexual acts with the UC’s nephew. Authorities report that McBride deleted messages when responses were not immediate, indicating a consciousness of guilt.
Detectives apprehended McBride outside his workplace on November 10, 2025. He is currently being held without bail at the Utah County Jail, facing serious charges that include two counts of enticing a minor and multiple counts of aggravated sexual exploitation.
