BREAKING: Ronald L. Gilbert, aged 70, of Perry Township, has tragically passed away on October 14, 2025, at Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center. This news comes as a shock to family and friends who remember him fondly for his vibrant personality and passion for life.
Born in Pottsville, Gilbert was the son of Minerva (Yoder) Gilbert and the late Carlson “Mike” Gilbert. He is also known for being the devoted husband of the late Cheryl L. (Spence) Gilbert, who passed away on October 18, 2010. His legacy continues through his children, Todd D. Gilbert and Jani L. (Gilbert) Milan, as well as his three grandchildren: Connor DuCoin, Chayson Gilbert, and McKinley Gilbert.
Gilbert graduated from Blue Mountain High School in 1973 and subsequently attended Lincoln Tech. He dedicated his career to the steel industry, working for DANA Corporation until retirement. He later held positions at Sheetz, Mack Truck, and Cabela’s, where he was a friendly face as a greeter.
Known for his adventurous spirit, Ronald enjoyed hunting, riding his Harley Davidson, and exploring the great outdoors. He was a loyal fan of Philadelphia sports teams, particularly the Phillies and the Miami Dolphins. His family recalls his love for mowing the grass and spending quality time with them as his greatest joys.
Survived by two brothers, Carlson G. “Butch” Gilbert, Jr. and Richard C. Gilbert, as well as three sisters—Carol Merbah, Sandra LaScala, and Donna Dabashinski—Gilbert’s passing leaves a significant void in the hearts of many.
Services for Ronald will be private, allowing the family to grieve in peace during this challenging time. The arrangements are being handled by Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc. in Hamburg.
