BREAKING NEWS: Rosa Lee Manderfeld, a cherished member of the Cloquet community in Minnesota, has passed away on October 16, 2025, at the age of 83. Known affectionately as Rosie, she dedicated her life to nursing and her family, leaving a profound impact on all who knew her.
Born on February 2, 1942, to George and Senja Ahlgren, Rosie was the middle child of seven and grew up on a small farm in Cloquet. She graduated from Cloquet High School in 1960 and went on to become a licensed practical nurse, serving the community for an impressive 42 years at Cloquet Memorial Hospital. Her commitment to healthcare was matched only by her passion for running, having completed the prestigious Grandma’s Marathon in 1992.
Rosie’s legacy extends beyond her career. She married Jerome (Jerry) Manderfeld on February 16, 1963. Together, they raised two children, Elizabeth and David, enjoying a loving marriage that lasted 46 years until Jerry’s passing in 2009.
She leaves behind her daughter Elizabeth (Haidar) Fakhoury, son David (Dawn) Manderfeld, and several grandchildren, including Jeries (Shannon) Fakhoury and Kiera Manderfeld, as well as a great-grandson, Micah. Her family, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends, are mourning her loss while celebrating her vibrant life.
The community is encouraged to honor Rosie’s memory by contributing to the Ahlgren Education Fund at cloquetedfundation.org or the American Heart Association at heart.org/more. A celebration of her life will be announced later, giving friends and family an opportunity to come together and remember the remarkable woman she was.
Arrangements were entrusted to Atkins-Northland Funeral Home. This news serves as a reminder of the lasting impact one individual can have on a community and the importance of cherishing loved ones. Stay tuned for further updates on the memorial plans for this beloved nurse and community member.
