Salvatore Maimone, 88, Passes Away; Funeral Services Scheduled

BREAKING: Salvatore Maimone, a beloved member of the community, has passed away at the age of 88 on December 23, 2025, at Capstone Nursing Home. His family and friends mourn the loss of a man known for his dedication and warmth.

Born on March 26, 1937, in Meri, Messina, Sicily, Maimone immigrated to the United States in 1971 with his wife, Antonina, after marrying in 1957. They settled in Schenectady, New York, where he became a respected mason for Local 190 in Albany.

Maimone was also an active member of the Sons of Italy on Hamburg St., contributing significantly to the local community. He was predeceased by his wife in 2006, leaving behind a legacy of love and family. He is survived by two sons, Giuseppe and Orazio Maimone, along with seven grandchildren: Nicolina, Angelo, Kamden, Ava, Sal, Anthony, and Roberto. He is also survived by his sister, Anna, residing in Italy, and numerous great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.

A calling hour will be held on Monday, December 29th, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, located at 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam. The funeral service will immediately follow at 12 p.m.. Maimone will be interred at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.
