Schuylkill River Art Show Launches Nov. 4 with 100+ Works

UPDATE: The highly anticipated Scenes of the Schuylkill Art Show is set to open on November 4, 2025, at the Montgomery County Community College’s Pottstown Campus. This annual juried event, hosted by Schuylkill River Greenways, will showcase over 100 pieces from more than 60 artists, highlighting the breathtaking beauty and culture of the Schuylkill River National and State Heritage Area.

Starting with an exclusive artists’ reception on November 5 from 6-8 PM, art enthusiasts can purchase tickets online until November 4 via the Schuylkill River Greenways website. A limited number of tickets will also be available at the door, ensuring that local residents and visitors don’t miss out on this vibrant celebration of art and nature.

Patrick Rodgers, the Manager of the Montco Cultural Center, has curated this event for nearly a decade, stating, “I love the natural aspect of the show. It always brings nature in when the fall is releasing nature and we are all spending more time indoors.” The exhibition promises to be a feast for the eyes, ideal for those looking to connect with the region’s artistic talent and natural scenery.

This year’s Guest Juror, David Aipperspach, a local painter and Assistant Professor of painting and printmaking at Ursinus College, will select winners across categories such as best in show and best 3-D art. Aipperspach, who holds an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and a BA in Landscape Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley, notes, “In landscape and nature art, I’m looking for seasonality. I really like when color and landscape painting is really specific and evocative.”

Local artist Debby Wyatt, owner of Centered Clay Studio in Kennett Square, expressed enthusiasm for the event, saying, “I love Scenes of the Schuylkill because it brings out all the creative people who enjoy the river and the beauty of the trail from top to bottom.” Her piece, which reflects the trail from the mountains to Center City, exemplifies the connection between art and the natural environment.

The exhibition will be open free of charge during regular business hours at the college, allowing everyone the opportunity to experience the artistic expressions that celebrate the Schuylkill River.

As the opening day approaches, art lovers are encouraged to secure their tickets early and prepare for an inspiring showcase that emphasizes local talent and the stunning landscapes of the region. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit https://support.schuylkillriver.org/scenes2025.
