Two Arrested for Dumpster Theft as Police Crack Down on Crime

URGENT UPDATE: Two men have been arrested early this morning for stealing heaters from a dumpster in Brook Park, Ohio, sparking concerns about local crime. The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. on October 14, 2023, outside Fridrich Moving & Storage, located at 14800 Brookpark.

Witnesses alerted police, leading to the swift apprehension of a 42-year-old man from Brooklyn and a 44-year-old man from Cleveland who were found attempting to drive away in a Chevrolet Malibu. Upon stopping the vehicle, officers discovered that the Cleveland man was wanted on outstanding charges and located bags of suspected heroin and amphetamine along with two syringes in his clothing. Additionally, the driver had a suspended license.

This arrest highlights a troubling trend in the area, as police ramp up their efforts to combat theft and drug-related offenses.

In a separate incident, a Parma man was arrested around 1 p.m. on October 9 for urinating in the parking lot of Brookgate Shopping Center at 5773 Smith Road. Witnesses reported the act to police, who found the man zipping up his pants next to his vehicle.

In a related incident, a 58-year-old homeless man was cited for providing false identification outside Statewide Express on 5231 Engle. Police had received reports of him rummaging through parked cars.

Lastly, a 50-year-old man from Middleburg Heights was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence around 2:30 a.m. on October 12. Officers noticed his pickup truck speeding from a parking lot and running a red light on Brookpark Road. The driver admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving and failed sobriety tests.
