UPDATE: A series of community events are set to take place across the Wyoming Valley region, starting this weekend and continuing into December. These events aim to bring residents together for fun, fundraising, and holiday celebrations.
The Epilepsy Foundation of Eastern Pennsylvania is hosting its annual Strike Out Epilepsy Bowl-a-Thon on November 16, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Chacko’s Family Bowling, located at 195 Wilkes-Barre Blvd., Wilkes-Barre. Participants can join as teams or individuals for just $20, which includes two hours of bowling and refreshments. On December 7, the Wilkes University Polish Room will host its 14th annual Wigilia celebration at 1 p.m. at Amber Palace, 228 George Ave., Wilkes-Barre. The event features traditional Polish foods, carols, and a chance to meet the recipients of the Polish Room Scholarships. Entry is $35 and RSVP is required by November 26. For holiday shopping, the Back Mountain Craft Fair takes place on November 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Dallas American Legion, featuring a basket raffle, bake sale, and food items for sale. Proceeds benefit local veterans.
A fire company bingo will be held on November 10 at Northmoreland Volunteer Fire Company, starting at 5:30 p.m.. No RSVP is necessary; for more information, call Jim at 570-520-9741.
On November 15, join the Gate of Heaven Parish for a homemade meatloaf dinner from 4 to 7 p.m.. The dinner costs $15 and includes a full meal with dessert; only 300 meals will be available. Reserve by contacting 570-675-2121.
The community is also invited to the Roast Beef Dinner on November 19 at the same fire company, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.. The cost is $14 for a hearty meal.
