UWS Claims UMAC Championships in Men’s Soccer and Cross Country

UPDATE: Wisconsin-Superior (UWS) has achieved remarkable victories, clinching conference titles in both men’s soccer and men’s cross country, marking a historic day for the Yellowjackets on November 4, 2025.

The men’s soccer team dominated Martin Luther with a staggering score of 8-0 during their final match at Superior Choice Credit Union Stadium. With this victory, UWS secured its eighth consecutive UMAC title, having already sealed the championship by defeating Bethany Lutheran 4-0 just a day prior. The Yellowjackets erupted with four goals in the first 18 minutes, featuring standout performances from Bryce Boldt, who netted two goals, and contributions from six other players, including Jordan Aultman.

UWS goalkeeper duo Patrick Sessions and Luke Lockman combined for three saves, showcasing their defensive prowess. The team, finishing the regular season with an impressive 14-6 overall record and 12-0 in UMAC play, will host fourth-seeded Crown in the tournament semifinals on Wednesday, November 7, at 5 p.m.

Meanwhile, the UWS women’s soccer team faced disappointment, concluding their four-year reign as UMAC champions after a 2-1 loss to Bethany Lutheran. Despite dominating the shot count with 20-9 attempts, the Yellowjackets could only find the net in the 89th minute, too late to change the outcome. UWS will travel to Mankato for the conference tournament semifinals against Bethany Lutheran on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

In a stunning display, UWS men’s cross country continued its dominance, winning the UMAC championship for the fifth straight year and the eighth overall at the league meet in Winthrop, Minnesota. The Yellowjackets swept the top four positions, falling just short of a perfect score. Dylan Uitto led the team with a personal best of 26:18.1 in the 8-kilometer race, followed closely by Ben Plackner. The UWS women’s team finished fourth with 115 points, led by Lilley Smith.

In men’s hockey, UWS opened the season with a commanding 7-0 victory over Marian, solidifying their No. 13 ranking in the national USCHO.com poll. Justin Dauphinais scored the first goal shorthanded, and Roope Tuomioksa added two goals in the third period. Goaltender Jan Skorpik recorded a shutout with 17 saves.

Conversely, the UWS women’s hockey team is still searching for its first goal of the season after suffering back-to-back shutouts against Lake Forest, losing 5-0 and 2-0. Despite outshooting their opponents, they couldn’t capitalize on scoring opportunities.

In volleyball, UWS started strong against Northwestern, winning the first set but ultimately fell 3-1 in a tightly contested match. Despite the loss, the Yellowjackets remain in second place in the UMAC standings and are poised for a home semifinal in the conference championship.

As the Yellowjackets gear up for the tournament, anticipation builds for their upcoming matches. Stay tuned for more updates as UWS aims for further success!
