Amazon’s Prime Video has announced significant content agreements in France and Spain, enhancing its streaming service with live television channels at no additional cost to subscribers. These partnerships, revealed on Wednesday, follow a recent announcement regarding multiyear agreements to offer HBO Max as an add-on subscription in Italy, Germany, and Austria.
In France, Prime members now have access to M6 Group’s streaming service, M6+, which features programming from popular channels such as M6, W9, 6ter, and Gulli. This deal introduces over 30,000 hours of content, including exclusive shows. Although financial details of the agreement were not disclosed, the programming includes local favorites like Les Traîtres, L’Amour est dans le pré, and Top Chef, alongside major sporting events like the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the Super Bowl.
Elisabetta Carruba, director of Prime Video channels for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), expressed enthusiasm about the addition of M6’s programming. “We are very pleased to welcome M6’s quality programming to Prime Video,” Carruba stated, emphasizing the goal of becoming the leading entertainment destination for customers.
David Larramendy, chairman of the M6 Group executive board, remarked on the impact of the agreement, stating, “This agreement boosts the visibility of our brands and allows us to reach additional audiences.” He emphasized that this partnership aligns with M6’s strategy to improve content accessibility and adapt to evolving consumer habits in a fragmented digital landscape.
In Spain, Prime Video announced a “landmark agreement” with the national public broadcaster RTVE, enabling Prime members to access live broadcasts from channels including La 1, La 2, and Canal 24H at no extra cost. This development is expected to provide Spanish viewers with a convenient way to explore RTVE’s diverse programming directly through the Prime Video platform.
Among the popular RTVE content available are sports coverage, current affairs programs, and entertainment shows like MasterChef and La Promesa. Children’s programming, including Peppa Pig and Los Lunnis, is also part of the offering.
Carruba highlighted the significance of the integration with RTVE, stating, “We continue to work towards offering our customers a more complete entertainment experience, bringing together top-quality content in a single streaming service.” This collaboration aims to position Prime Video as a leading entertainment option in Spain.
The expansion of Prime Video’s offerings in both France and Spain reflects the company’s commitment to enhancing its streaming services and meeting the diverse entertainment needs of its subscribers in Europe. As competition in the streaming market intensifies, these strategic partnerships could prove vital to maintaining subscriber growth and engagement across the continent.
