Bill Dandreo Honored with 2025 Lynn Veterans Council Patriot Award

Bill Dandreo, a resident of Swampscott, has been recognized as the 2025 recipient of the Lynn Veterans Council Patriot Award. The award, announced on Tuesday, honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the veterans community. Dandreo, who operates Dandreo Bros. General Contractors & Masonry in Lynn, has a long history of volunteering and donating to various projects for local veterans.

The award ceremony took place in the office of Mayor Jared Nicholson, where Dandreo was surprised by the recognition. Dandreo has actively supported initiatives such as the Jared Raymond Memorial, the Bradley Campus Memorial, and the Richard Fecteau Memorial, as well as participating in local parades. He expressed gratitude, stating, “It is my honor to be involved with veterans. I’m happy they allow me. I’m not a veteran myself, but it’s a way of giving back. I’m very passionate about doing everything I can for them.”

During the event, both Nicholson and Ward 1 Councilor Pete Meaney presented citations from the city council and the mayor’s office. Nicholson remarked, “You can physically see a manifestation of your hard work and support for the veterans and the memorials around the city. We appreciate that dedication, the quality of the work, and the values that stand behind it.”

Meaney, who is a U.S. Navy veteran and a board member of the Veterans Council, echoed this sentiment, affirming Dandreo’s dedication to local veterans. “It’s well deserved,” Meaney said, emphasizing Dandreo’s impact on the community.

Charlie Griffin, President of the Veterans Council, elaborated on Dandreo’s selection for the award, highlighting his proactive approach. “He never hesitates to help out, and he always takes on challenges and gets the job done. He doesn’t just talk the talk; he’s very involved. For many years now, he’s been a driving force in recognizing veterans.”

Griffin added, “Everyone’s been so impressed by his projects. He doesn’t want any pats on the back, but it’s a big deal to us. He’s done an excellent job, and we wanted to let him know publicly that we appreciate him.”

Mike Sweeney, Director of Lynn-Swampscott Veterans’ Services, also praised Dandreo’s commitment. “He’s been stellar with taking care and honoring veterans and their families since I’ve known him. I couldn’t think of a better, more deserving person for the award.”

The Lynn Veterans Council Patriot Award not only acknowledges Dandreo’s contributions but also serves as a reminder of the vital role that community members play in supporting veterans. As Dandreo looks ahead, he remains committed to continuing his efforts, hopeful to further assist those who have served.
