Frederic Earl Marsee, a respected educator and community figure, passed away peacefully at his home in Hermosa Beach on February 19, 2026, at the age of 83. Born in Portland, Oregon, on March 6, 1942, Marsee dedicated over 40 years of his life to teaching and administration within the Los Angeles County and the Redondo Beach Unified School District.
Throughout his career, Marsee was known for his commitment to education. He served as a teacher, administrator, and principal, positively impacting countless students and families. His passion for teaching extended beyond the classroom, as he was deeply involved in the community and fostered a love for learning among his students.
Marsee was also an enthusiastic lover of the ocean, having grown up surfing the waves of South Bay. In later years, he developed a keen interest in golf, which some might describe as an obsession. His love for such activities reflected his vibrant personality and zest for life.
He is survived by his partner, Barbara Demarest; his daughter, Megan Koch; his son, Kevin Marsee; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Darren Marsee, a loss that greatly impacted his family.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 11:00 AM on March 1, 2026, at Lighthouse Memorials and Receptions, Rice Center, in Torrance. Friends and family are invited to honor Marsee’s legacy and the profound influence he had on their lives. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that attendees mix a martini in his memory and consider making a donation to Blood Cancer United.
