URGENT UPDATE: Today, July 15, 2023, Principal Chris Cooke of Rocky Heights Middle School opened the doors to future sixth graders from Timber Trail Elementary for an exclusive tour aimed at easing their transition to middle school. This pivotal moment marks a significant shift for these fifth graders, as they prepare to navigate the complexities of multiple classrooms and schedules.
The transition from elementary to middle school can be both thrilling and daunting for students. To alleviate anxiety, Rocky Heights is hosting this special visit, allowing students to familiarize themselves with their new environment. Principal Cooke expressed excitement about the event, stating, “The students are so ready to be in middle school. They have worked so hard to get to this point, and we wanted to bring them into our school to help them feel the hearts of the people here and show them the exciting opportunities they will experience in this new environment.”
The tours, taking place in the morning, aim to boost the confidence of incoming Nighthawks as they prepare for their educational journey. TTE Principal Robert Thelen praised the initiative, emphasizing that experiences like these illustrate the exceptional nature of the RCHS feeder pattern.
As these young students walk the halls of Rocky Heights, they engage with teachers and current students, asking questions and absorbing the vibrant atmosphere. This hands-on approach not only reduces apprehension but also fosters excitement about the opportunities that lie ahead.
Parents and educators alike are encouraged to share this positive development, as it showcases the school’s commitment to supporting their future students. This early exposure aims to send the fifth graders back to their elementary school filled with energy and confidence, ready to tackle the challenges of middle school.
